The Carry Hope Initiative exists to ensure that every child entering foster care carries more than they came with: not just belongings, but dignity, love, and the promise that someone sees them.
The Carry Hope Initiative is a nonprofit dedicated to serving children in the foster care system across Metro Atlanta. We believe every child deserves to feel valued, prepared, and loved, no matter the circumstances that brought them into care.
Born from a deep commitment to child welfare and community compassion, we mobilize volunteers, donors, and partner organizations to provide children with the essential items they need as they move into new homes and new beginnings.
I'm Teresa Davis, the founder of The Carry Hope Initiative Inc., an Atlanta based nonprofit dedicated to bringing dignity and comfort to children in foster care. A New York native who has called Atlanta home for over 30 years, my passion for this work runs deep, rooted in a close family connection to the foster care system that ignited a desire to give back.
What began as a God given vision three years ago has grown into a mission of tangible hope: ensuring that no child in foster care has to carry their belongings in a trash bag. One suitcase at a time, The Carry Hope Initiative is making a difference in the city I am proud to call home.

A proper bag is more than a bag. It is a message. It says you matter. Your story matters. Your things matter.
Far too many children enter foster care with nothing but what they can carry, and often that means a trash bag. That single image speaks volumes about how vulnerable children can be made to feel invisible. We refuse to accept that, so we replace it with something a child can hold onto.
Every child deserves to be treated with honor and respect.
We lead with empathy and act with a servant's heart.
It takes a village to surround a child with love and support.
We believe in the power of a fresh start and a hopeful future.
We give our best, because these children deserve nothing less.
