Start a Drive

Rally your people.

Gather a school, church, office, or team around a simple wishlist. Here is what fills a bag.

New luggage and backpacks. The heart of every bag, sized for kids and teens.
Toiletries and personal care. Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant.
Pajamas and comfortable clothes. Soft, new, and in a range of sizes.
A comfort item. A blanket, stuffed animal, journal, or book.
Socks and underwear. Always needed, always new.
A handwritten note. A few words of welcome and encouragement.

Good Questions

Before you give or pitch in.

Where does my donation go?
Gifts go directly to bags and essentials for children entering foster care across Metro Atlanta. The Carry Hope Initiative is a 501(c)(3), so your donation is tax deductible.
What actually goes in a bag?
New luggage or a backpack, toiletries and personal care items, pajamas and comfortable clothes, socks and underwear, a comfort item like a blanket or stuffed animal, and a handwritten note of welcome.
How do the bags reach children?
We partner with DFCS caseworkers, group homes, foster families, and schools, so bags reach children at the point of need, through the people they already trust.
Can my school, church, or workplace run a drive?
Yes, and it is one of the best ways to help. Gather your people around the wishlist above, collect new items, and reach out through our contact page to coordinate drop off.
Do I need experience to volunteer?
Not at all. Most volunteer work is sorting donations and packing bags. Come once or come often, on your own or with a group.
Can I donate items instead of money?
Yes. New items from the wishlist are always welcome. Reach out and we will point you to the current needs and where to send them.
